A little bit of snow . . .

It may not have been much snow, but that was not going to keep my kids inside. Neither did the frigid temperatures. Much fun was had in the 30 or so minutes they were allowed to play outside. Of course hot chocolate with whip cream and marshmallows had to follow. Today has been a good day. : )

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day!!! I am spending the day lazily hanging out with the kids. The boys have already put together their new Lego sets, Kate is joyfully playing with her new Elsa and Anna Frozen dolls AND we've been sledding. As I type this blog post, I am listening to them laugh and color with their new crayons. It's been a great Valentine's day so far. Now I am just waiting on my honey to get home and it will be perfect. Happy mama, indeed. 

Child Labor

I put 'em to work around here! Kidding. Evan has been begging me to let him go out and shovel. So I semi-bundled them up and let them loose on the porch. I stayed warm and toasty inside and snapped a few blurry pictures. I am so over this snow. I know the kids love, it, but I'm looking forward to the warm up this weekend! Happy kids!

Absent . . .

I have so much to catch up on! I can not believe the last post is from July. Holy smokes that was a long break. Everything is wonderful. I have lots of updates coming . . . until then, here is a pic of my sweet babes from tonight. Pure bliss. 

A taste of Summer and being thankful

The weather has not been very cooperative over the past week or so. I thought by now we would have been to the pool at least a few times. But, no, it's been too cold and rainy. The cold is frustrating, but the rain is just annoying. Enough rain already, we want some sun and pool time. Enough fussing. 
The kids have been begging to get to the pool, but since that isn't an option, we adjusted our water play and turned to the sprinkler. It was not planned. The kids and I were eating lunch on the deck and I decided to surprise them with it afterwords. Hints the play clothes and not swimsuits. They were surprised and had an absolute blast. They would have stayed out there all day. I may have let them if it weren't for mud pits and blue lips. Another day kiddos, another day. 

As I sat on the steps taking pictures and watching them play, I soaked them in. Their happiness, playfulness and love for each other. I feel so incredibly blessed to be their mom. I feel so lucky to be able to spend the time with them that I do. 

They are precious gifts from God and I am so thankful for them.

Could it be . . .

Is it possible that Spring is FINALLY here?!? The last week has been amazing weather! I can't believe that the temperature is dropping into the 30's by tomorrow. As I type this it is 79 degrees and sunny. Ugh, weather please stay nice. Let us have our Spring. We want more days like pictured below. Thank you. 

Bubbles! What kind-of warm day would it be without bubbles? Not a normal one. The boys are finally getting the hang of it.

This boy . . .

Oh Evan. How funny and sweet and quirky and carefree he is. I am not great about keeping a baby book, but I do feel like I do a pretty good job at keeping up with our family journal. This is a memory I do not want to forget . . . 

The other night the boys were sleeping together and there was a very loud thunderstorm. The lights went out for just a few seconds, but it was just long enough for them to start crying and for me to go in and calm them down. Luke was the most upset and took some more convincing. As I was standing there telling them it was just rain and thunder, Evan says, "Mom, I'm not scared because God is with you always". Seriously. I almost cried and jumped for joy all at the same moment. It was so heartfelt and sincere. It was the sweetest.

Brothers

I am so thankful for the relationship that Luke and Evan are developing with each other. Don't get me wrong, they definitely have their moments and fight over the most ridiculous things, but without a doubt, they love each other. They have become such great playmates. They could play with their Star Wars light sabers or Imaginext stuff all day long. They are so sweet and I hope that their bond, relationship and love for each other continues to grow and that they choose to be best friends forever. 

Lots and lots of snow!

Today we woke up to lots and lots of snow. More snow that I've seen in a long time, actually. We measured 8 inches in our yard. Wow. Luckily Justin didn't have to go to work and try to drive in all this craziness so he was here to enjoy the snow with the kids. We bundled them up and headed out . . . they could barley walk it was so deep. Poor Kate kept falling face first, but she didn't complain at all. I think Ev would have stayed out there all day if we would have allowed it. Luke, well he wasn't a big fan today. His coat sleeves kept hiking up and his arms were getting wet, so that was kind-of a deal breaker for him. Maybe he'll have better luck tomorrow . . . since it looks like this stuff is here to stay for a little while. Happy snow day y'all!
